  1. PC Astral Windows

  4. This is not the full documentation, but is provided as an aid to working 
  5. with the shareware version of Astral Windows. If you use this product 
  6. regularly you must register it.
  7.  
  8. System Requirements: Windows 3.1, mouse device, Visual Basic VBRUN100.DLL, 
  9. Adobe Type Manager for displaying astrological fonts. NB a TrueType version 
  10. of this font is on the way.

  12. Installation: There should be three files associated with this package, 
  13. ASTRAL.ZIP, ASTROL.ZIP and ASTRAL.TXT. Create a directory on your hard disk 
  14. called Astral. Copy the files into this directory and use PKUNZIP.EXE to 
  15. decompress these files (PKUNZIP can be obtained from the same shareware 
  16. library or BBS you downloaded the files from). You then need to install 
  17. Kenneth Hirst's Astrol_91 font if you want to display or print the 
  18. astrological symbols. Use Adobe Type Manager to do this. Then run ASTRAL 
  19. either from the Program Manager or directly from the DOS command line. Note: 
  20. Astral Windows will not run without the .VBX or .DLL files which are 
  21. contained in ASTRAL.ZIP.

  23. File Menu

  25. Open
  26. Lets you open existing Astral Windows data files with the extension .AWW. 
  27. A small number of these files are provided with the shareware version -- a 
  28. large number come with the registered version. PC Astral Windows will also 
  29. read Astral Windows for DOS .DAT files.

  31. Save
  32. Lets you save data you have calculated with the extension .AWW. The DOS 
  33. version of Astral Windows is unable to read these files.

  35. Save As
  36. Lets you give a different name to your data. This option is useful if, for 
  37. example, you have calculated a sidereal solar return (SSR) and don't want to 
  38. overwrite your original data.

  40. Fonts
  41. If you want to change the font for display or printing, select this menu 
  42. item. 
  43.  
  44. Print
  45. Lets you select which data you want to print. If you click on All, the other 
  46. available print options are selected but you can individually deselect them. 
  47. When you click on OK, a printer dialog box comes up on screen. This allows 
  48. you to set up or change your printer and paper size. Landscape mode is not 
  49. supported in version 1.10 of Astral Windows. A4 portrait gives the best 
  50. results for printing astrological wheels.

  52. When you print a chart or birth data, the print icon appears.
  53. It will stay on the Astral Windows data bar until printing is completed.

  56. Leave Astral Windows. Ensure you have saved your data.

  58. Copy Menu

  60. Copy
  61. Copies the active data or chart screen to the Windows clipboard in bitmap 
  62. format.

  64. Paste Data
  65. When an active data window is open you can copy it to the Windows clipboard 
  66. and then paste it into its own special "Shadow" window. This is useful for comparing data directly. For example, if you paste a wheel into the Shadow window and then load another file, you can select Chart Sidereal and compare it directly with the wheel pasted into the Shadow window. You can do the same with the data tables.

  72. Lets you enter birth data which is then calculated. During the calculation 
  73. process, "Calc" appears on the Data Bar. 
  74. Names can be no longer than 24 characters.
  75. Dates in the unregistered version must be entered in the format dd/mm/yyyy. 
  76. Times must be in terms of the 24 hour clock as hh:mm
  77. The online gazeteer gives a pick list of major cities in the world. If the 
  78. place you want is not on this list, you must enter latitude and longitude in 
  79. the form, for example, 20N20 and 003W04.

  81. Charts Menu

  83. Tropical Horoscope
  84. The usual method of presenting birth data in the western world. Opens a  
  85. child window and draws a wheel with the astrological symbols.

  87. Sidereal Horoscope
  88. Displays and draws sidereal information, calculated using the Fagan 
  89. ayanamsha.

  91. Tables Menu

  93. Tropical
  94. Displays the birth data including quadruplicities, triplicities &c. If you 
  95. select astro symbols in the Other Customise dialog box, it will display the 
  96. glyphs rather than the abbreviations for the signs and planets.

  98. Sidereal
  99. As above, but for sidereal data.
  100.  
  101. Natal Aspects
  102. Opens a child window and displays aspects of the horoscope. The orbs are 
  103. customisable.

  105. Harmonic Aspects
  106. Does the same but shows the navamsha aspects.
  107.  
  108. Houses
  109. Displays six different house systems -- Regiomantanus, Placidus, Equal, 
  110. Morinus, Campanus and Porphyry, Only the first six houses are displayed, 
  111. houses 7 to 12 are 180 degrees away from these.

  113. View Harmonics
  114. Sub menus for the twelfth harmonic and also for the Hindu navamshas.

  116. Futures  Menu

  118. Solar Returns
  119. Calculates and displays a sidereal solar return for the existing data in the 
  120. program. This option destroys the original data -- ensure you have saved it 
  121. before selecting Solar Returns

  123. Progressions
  124. Day for a year progressions only available in the registered version of PC 
  125. Astral Windows.

  127. Kalachakra and Western
  128. Interpretation is only available in the registered version of PC Astral 
  129. Windows.

  131. Yearly Prediction
  132. Only available in the registered version of PC Astral Windows

  134. Time Menu

  136. Britain
  137. Displays a list of the years British Summer Time (BST) was in force. You 
  138. need to enter data as Universal Time, so if birth times as given fall within 
  139. these dates, you must subtract one or two hours as appropriate.

  142. Shows a list of zone times in the US. Again, times as given must be 
  143. converted to Universal Time using these values.

  145. Other Menu

  147. Screen Colour
  148. Lets you change the background colour of the Astral Windows screen while you 
  149. are working.

  151. Customise
  152. Various options which you can select including using astrological symbols, 
  153. instantly displaying loaded birth data, and changing aspect orbs.

  156. If you use this program you must register it with me. It costs ú40 ($90) and 
  157. cheques must be made payable to Mike Magee and sent to 18 Grafton Road, 
  158. Harrow, Middlesex HA1 4QT. Use the file INVOICE.TXT supplied with this 
  159. shareware to register.

  163. Lets you cascade and tile open windows and lets you arrange icons neatly.
  164. When you open one or more windows, these are added to the Windows menu, so 
  165. allowing you to access them using the keyboard.

  170. Brings up a help screen. If you click and hold down the mouse button on the 
  171. icon on this screen, the astrological glyphs and their meanings are 
  172. displayed.

  185. Astral Windows for DOS. The DOS version of this program, now in version

  188. Sanskrit. This Windows program displays the devanagari font and lets you 
  189. copy bitmaps to the Windows clipboard. It also contains bitmaps of some
